Dibrugarh (Assam), 27 August (HS): The All Assam Sonowal Kachari Student’s Association along with the All Assam Women’s Association staged a protest rally in Dibrugarh, demanding constitutional rights for the Sonowal Kachari community, police informed on Wednesday.

The rally, which began at Choukidinghee Chariali and concluded at Thanachari Ali, witnessed strong opposition voices from the participants.

With the elections for the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council approaching, the protesters pressed for inclusion under the Sixth Schedule, asserting that such autonomy is essential to safeguard the community’s identity and secure its future.--------
