Prayagraj, 27 Aug (HS): A miscreant riding a motorcycle
was injured by a bullet during an encounter on Wednesday morning near Sarfanpur
village of Phulpur police station area in Prayagraj district of UP. The injured
miscreant has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. While one of his
companions managed to escape. Police teams are raiding possible places in
search of him. About one kg of looted white metal jewellery has been recovered
from the possession of the injured miscreant. This information was given by
Ganganagar Deputy Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Singh Gunawat on Wednesday.
He said that the injured criminal is Ramesh Roop, a
resident of Sarayalhar village situated in Jetwara police station area of
Pratapgarh district. The police team recovered a motorcycle, a pistol and two
empty shells and a cartridge and a bag from his possession. About one kg of
white metal silver jewellery was recovered from him.
During interrogation, the injured criminal told that on August
24, he along with his two companions had committed the robbery of Shiv Shankar
Soni in Phulpur police station area. The recovered jewellery was looted from
Shiv Shankar Soni. In this regard, a case has been registered in Phulpur police
station and legal action is being taken.
