Lucknow, 27 Aug (HS): A man who had previously been given bail on

the condition that he marry his rape victim has been detained again for

allegedly pressuring his wife for dowry, authorities said on Wednesday. According

to authorities, the accused pledged to marry the victim and then began an

affair with her in 2021. However, when he refused, the woman filed a rape

allegation. The culprit was apprehended and jailed. In 2022, the court granted

him release on the condition that he marry the victim. Following their

marriage, the guy began pressing his wife to provide a dowry of Rs 10 lakh from

her family. When she couldn't satisfy the demand, he started harassing her,

according to (SHO) Anand Kumar Dwivedi, citing the victim's allegation. Police

have filed a complaint, and the accused has been brought into jail. The SHO

stated that further inquiry is underway.
