Kishtwar, August 27 (H.S.): A sudden flood triggered by two cloudbursts in the Margi area of the Warwan Valley in Kishtwar washed away at least 10 houses, over 300 kanals of crops, livestock, and a bridge, sources reported late Tuesday night.
According to reports, water entered around 60 homes, forcing affected families to take shelter under tarpaulin tents on nearby hills.
Due to near-total phone connectivity blackout in the Warwan and Marwah valleys, local residents managed to send out distress messages demanding urgent rescue and relief aid.
This remote valley, home to about 40,000 people across 50 villages, remains cut off from the Kishtwar district headquarters. Residents are urging authorities to expedite relief and rescue operations.
