Guwahati, 13 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday paid a heartfelt tribute to the great freedom fighter of Manipur, Veer Tikendrajit Singh, on his death anniversary. He said that Tikendrajit Singh, known as the 'Lion of Manipur', fought with indomitable courage and determination against the colonial rule of the British.

The Chief Minister said that the saga of his sacrifice and patriotism will always remain indelible in the hearts of the people. He said, Veer Tikendrajit Singh is a source of inspiration not only for Manipur but for the entire country. He kept the torch of patriotism burning even in the most difficult circumstances and sacrificed his life to protect the motherland.

Dr. Sarma said that we should learn from his indomitable courage, leadership ability and spirit of struggle, so that the coming generations are also inspired to contribute to the independence and unity of the country.
