Kolkata, 13 August (H.S.) Former education minister of West Bengal Partha Chatterjee had approached the Calcutta High Court for bail in a CBI case related to recruitment corruption. The case was to be heard by a bench of Justice Shubhra Ghosh of the High Court on Wednesday, but it was postponed. At the beginning of the hearing, the CBI requested the court to give some more time. Justice Ghosh accepted the application.

Partha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2022 in the primary teacher recruitment corruption case. Later, the former education minister was accused of being involved in several recruitment corruption cases including Group C and Group D. After this, the CBI along with the ED started investigating the matter. They also arrested Partha who was in jail. The CBI alleged that Partha was involved in several recruitment corruption cases. Partha had applied to the High Court for bail in one such case.

Additional Solicitor General of the Central Government could not appear in the court of Justice Shubhra Ghosh on Wednesday. Due to this, the CBI asked for some more time from the judge. Justice Ghosh said that the hearing has been postponed on the request of the CBI. The court said that the next hearing of the case will be on September 1.
