Kolkata, 13 August (H.S.) — West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has clearly outlined the responsibilities of ministers under the ‘Hamra Mohalla, Hamra Samadhan’ (Our Neighbourhood, Our Solution) scheme. As per her directives, ministers in charge of districts will be required to visit designated camps at least once a week and maintain constant coordination with the District Magistrate to address public grievances collectively.
A senior Trinamool Congress leader said that the CM’s instructions specify that ministers must work closely with district administrations to monitor decisions taken at the block level during the scheme’s implementation period. If any administrative complications arise, both the minister and the district administration will work together to resolve them. Ministers will also be required to hold regular review meetings with the District Magistrate to ensure that all activities under the scheme are running smoothly.
Launched on August 2 at the booth level, the scheme aims to provide quick and easy solutions to public issues at the local level. Administrative officials describe it as a unique initiative that places citizens at the heart of governance, giving them direct decision-making power — a move the government has termed a “people-centric revolution.”
Announced ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, the three-month programme promises to resolve neighbourhood issues directly at the grassroots. In its initial days, several booths have already reported record levels of service delivery.
