Guwahati, 13 August (HS): A horrific road accident took place on National Highway No. 27 at Chakshura in Khetri, the capital of Assam, on Wednesday. A Maruti S-Cross car numbered AS 01 ET 2351 going from Guwahati to Nagon went out of control and collided with a tree located between the dividers. In the accident, the husband and wife sitting in the front seat of the car killed on the spot.

According to the information received, a teenager sitting in the back seat was seriously injured. The Khetri Traffic Police reached the spot and sent the injured teenager to the hospital in critical condition. According to the police, the dead couple has not been identified yet, although the injured teenager is suspected to be their child.

Local people said that due to artificial waterlogging on the national highway near the accident site, small and big road accidents happen every day, but the National Highway Authority has not taken any concrete safety measures in this direction till now.
