Guwahati, 13 August (HS): A tragic road accident on the outskirts of Guwahati claimed the lives of a husband and wife on Wednesday, while their teenage daughter was left critically injured.

According to police, a car (AS-01ET-2351) traveling from Guwahati towards Jagiroad lost control and crashed into the divider on the national highway at Sanphura under Khetri Police Station area. The driver and a woman seated in the front killed instantly, while their daughter was rescued in critical condition and admitted to a hospital, where her condition remains serious.

The deceased have been identified as Gajendra Mohan Sharma (65), retired Vice-Principal of Raha College and his wife Archana Sharma (55). The injured has been identified as Kripali Garg (7). Police and traffic personnel from Khetri had to make considerable effort to extract the bodies from the mangled vehicle.

The bodies have been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation. ---------------
