Mumbai,
09 July (HS): Maharashtra’s Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has
announced relaxation in the Fragmentation Act. The fragments in urban areas up
to January 1, 2025, will be regularised, he added. The step was taken following
problems in fast urbanisation. Shortly, the Act will be scrapped. The
Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) will be decided soon.
The revolutionary
step is being taken to remove problems faced in urban areas.
The announcement
was made in the Legislative Assembly in response to a call attention motion by
Amol Khatal, Jayant Patil, Vijay Wadettiwar, Vikram Pachpute, Prakash Solanke, and Abhijit Patil.
The
SOP will be drafted within 15 days, following which rules relating to laying
plots, layouts, roads, registration, and construction will be clarified. A
four-member committee will be formed.
More
than 50 lakh families are facing problems due to the Fragmentation Act. This
led to a violation of the Act. The irregularities up to January 1, 2025, will be
regularised, Bawankule said.
