Odisha Government Reshuffles Senior IPS Officers; Sanjeeb Panda to Lead Anti-Naxal Operations


Bhubaneswar, 9 July (H.S.): In a major administrative reshuffle at the IPS level, the Odisha government has transferred and assigned new responsibilities to several senior police officers with immediate effect.

Senior IPS officer Sanjeeb Panda (RR 1994), who was serving as ADG, Training and Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA), has been appointed as ADG, Anti-Naxal Operations. In his new role, Panda will oversee both the Special Intelligence Wing (SIW) and Anti-Naxal Operations, and will report directly to the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Odisha.

Anup Kumar Sahoo (RR 2006), IGP, Training, will continue to hold additional charge as Director of BPSPA until further orders.

In another key appointment, Akhileshvar Singh (RR 2009), who was serving as DIG of Police, South Western Range (SWR), Koraput, has been transferred and posted as DIG of Police, SIW, Bhubaneswar.

Simultaneously, Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh (RR 2010), DIG of Police, SIW, Bhubaneswar, has been posted as DIG of Police, SWR, Koraput.

The reshuffle is seen as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and enhance efficiency in law enforcement, particularly in areas affected by left-wing extremism.
