9 July (HS): Taking an important initiative towards environmental protection,
Uttar Pradesh government's Technical Education and Consumer Affairs Minister
Ashish Patel participated in a massive plantation program organized in village
Bahuti of Patehra development block on Wednesday. He planted saplings along
with school children, villagers and public representatives and called upon the
people present to participate enthusiastically in the campaign. Many senior
administrative and political officials including State Government Secretary,
Medical and Health and Mirzapur Nodal Officer Pinky Jovel, Chanbe MLA Rinki
Kol, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Chairman Cooperative Bank Jagdish
Singh, Chief Development Officer Vishal Kumar and Chairman Nagar Palika
Parishad Shyam Sundar Keshari were present in the program. Everyone took a
pledge to protect the environment and planted saplings of different species.
On
this occasion, Minister Ashish Patel said that today when the whole world is
facing environmental crisis, tree plantation is not only an environmental
necessity but also our social responsibility. Every citizen must plant at least
one tree and take care of it. Saplings were distributed to school children,
villagers and voluntary organizations at the event venue so that they can speed
up the campaign by planting them in their homes and fields. District Magistrate
Priyanka Niranjan urged the people to preserve the plants with the resolution
of one plant, one life and inspire others as well.

Vishal Kumar said that under this campaign, a target has been set to plant
lakhs of saplings in the district, in which extensive public participation will
be ensured up to the panchayat level. He said that such programs will not only
increase greenery, but the local climate will also be made favorable.
