Chennai, 9 July (H.S.): The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has urged Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi to implement the Right to Service Act in the state. In a statement, DMK MP and party spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan emphasized the importance of enacting this legislation, which would ensure citizens receive public services in a timely manner.

The Right to Service Act aims to provide citizens with a statutory right to obtain public services within a specified timeframe, promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Elangovan pointed out that several states, including Bihar and Punjab, have successfully implemented this act. He stressed that such legislation would significantly enhance the delivery of public services in Tamil Nadu, benefiting citizens across various sectors.

The demand comes amid ongoing discussions about governance reforms and citizen-centric initiatives in the state.
