Nadia, 9 July (H.S.): Amid ongoing political unrest in West Bengal following the Kasba incident, the police have arrested four individuals including a village police allegedly for molesting a female TMC leader.
As per police , the arrested individuals are Amit Pal (village police), Bhola Hatji, Bhanjan Das, and Jay Pal. Amit Pal and Bhola Hatji face charges of molesting the TMC leader, while Bhanjan Das and Jay Pal have been accused of threatening her to withdraw the complaint.
As per information, the incident took place on the night of July 4. The female leader was on her way from her parental home in Ranabandh to her in-laws’ house in Christian Para. Upon reaching a local street corner, she was allegedly approached with indecent proposals by a drunken Amit Pal, who was on duty as a village police . Bhola Hatji, who was also there at the scey, also allegedly engaged in similar misconduct. The woman managed to escape and informed the police immediately.
The following day, the victim visited the local police station and lodged an official complaint. However, later that night, Bhanjan Das, Jay Pal, and others allegedly went to her house and threatened her to withdrawing the complaint.
The police first arrested Amit Pal. Subsequently, Bhola Hatji, Bhanjan Das, and Jay Pal were also taken into custody. The police have confirmed that Amit Pal has been dismissed from his position.
All four accused are scheduled to be produced before the Krishnanagar court on Wednesday. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
