Guwahati, 9 July (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Chirang district and reviewed the progress of various welfare schemes running in the district. Presiding over the review meeting held in the auditorium of the District Commissioner's Office, the Chief Minister directed Deputy Commissioner Jatin Bora to ensure that the benefits of all the development schemes of the government in the district reach the last person.
Reviewing the progress of 'Orunoday 3.0', 'Chief Minister Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan', 'Chief Minister Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan' and ration card distribution, the Chief Minister directed to expedite the preparation of the list of eligible beneficiaries. He said that not a single eligible beneficiary should be deprived of the scheme.
Currently 406 beneficiaries are included in the district under CMAAA, which will be increased to 1,200. A target has been set to include 60 thousand beneficiaries in the Orunoday 3.0 scheme. Under the Women Entrepreneurship Campaign, he said that all eligible women self-help groups should be included in the scheme.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare the final list of beneficiaries by August 15, so that the schemes can be launched soon. Regarding ration card distribution, he directed to identify eight thousand eligible families (four thousand each) from Sidli and Bijni assembly constituencies.
Reviewing the connecting roads with the concerned officials, Dr. Sarma announced that four bridges over the Champa river would be constructed by the state government. Under the 'Assam Mala' scheme, several roads in the district will be upgraded and constructed.
Also paying attention to the problem of drinking water, the Chief Minister assured that the government would take necessary steps in this direction soon.
On this occasion, Handloom and Textiles Minister UG Brahma, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Roy, MP Jayanta Basumatari, MLA Ajay Roy, Nirmal Kumar Brahma and senior officials of the district were present.
