Devyani Rana vows to raise issue of toll burden on commuters

Jammu, 9 July (H.S.): Vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Jammu and Kashmir, Devyani Rana, today assured the people of Nagrota Assembly Constituency that she will take up the issue of the proposed toll collection at the upcoming Sua No. 1 Toll Plaza on the Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway (NH-144A).

While interacting with the public during her visit to Malpur area of Nagrota Assembly Constituency, Rana said she was aware of the growing concerns among local residents and daily commuters regarding the establishment of another toll plaza in close proximity-barely 20 to 22 kilometers-from the already operational Sohanjana Toll Plaza on the Jammu Ring Road. She stated that the proposed setup would impose an additional financial burden on the people and adversely affect the accessibility and affordability of intra-district travel.

Rana further acknowledged that the proposed Sua No. 1 toll plaza would be the second toll collection point within the Nagrota constituency, in addition to the existing Ban Toll Plaza. She noted that this is particularly troubling for residents who commute daily for work, education, healthcare and other essential services across the constituency.

Responding to the concerns raised by locals, she assured them that the issue would be taken up with the concerned authorities for a comprehensive review of the toll collection plan at Sua No. 1.

Rana reiterated that a balanced and people-centric approach has always been the cornerstone of the pro-people government at the Centre, and expressed confidence that the matter would be dealt with in a manner that prioritizes public convenience.
