Lucknow,

26 July (HS): Mayawati, the supremo of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), accused

the Congress on Saturday of long-standing neglect of Dalits and tribals. In a

post on X, Mayawati criticized Rahul Gandhi's admission that Congress has

failed to meet these people's political, economic, and reservation-related

goals as nothing new. She described the leader's stance as self-serving

politics, with his party consistently adopting a sad and unfortunate

attitude toward the SC and ST communities. The Dalit leader stated that

the attitude of the country's deprived section prompted these communities to

start their own party. As a result, Mayawati claimed, the Congress party has

consistently remained out of power in important states, including Uttar

Pradesh.

Now

that they have lost power, they are suddenly remembering these communities with

crocodile tears, considering their constant deception and policies. She

extended her attack to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, accusing them

of hypocrisy. According to the BSP head, the Congress failed to award Dr B R

Ambedkar with the Bharat Ratna for nearly 40 years after Independence, hence

denying him full benefits of reservation. Mayawati claimed that all casteist

parties work together to successfully render SC, ST, and OBC reservations

inactive and ineffectual under a variety of pretexts. They're all cut from the

same fabric, she said. She claimed that her government in Uttar Pradesh ensured

the safety, dignity, and well-being of all segments of society, including the

poor, oppressed, and Bahujan Samaj.
