26 July (HS): A 21-year-old lady was injured after a man, whom police believe

to be a jilted boyfriend, shot her many times at a temple here on Saturday. According

to police, the accused, Rahul Diwakar (24), was apprehended after an encounter.

The event occurred about 8.30 a.m. at the Rani Ka Shiv temple in

Kila-Ki-Bazaria, while Divyanshi Rathore, a B.Sc student, was giving prayers,

according to Station House Officer (SHO) Fateh Bahadur Singh. He claimed that

while she was praying at the temple, Rahul opened fire three times on her. After

the incident, the accused fled the scene, leaving Divyanshi with significant

injuries to her stomach and other body parts, according to the officer. She was

rushed to the hospital, and her condition is listed as serious, he added.

Prima

facie, it looks to be a case of a rejected lover, and a FIR has been filed,

with investigations ongoing, according to the SHO, who also stated that

Divyanshi was planning to marry another guy. Superintendent of Police Ganesh

Prasad Saha stated that the offender was apprehended in Orandya Mandal village

following an encounter. Rahul

suffered a leg injury during the encounter and has been arrested, the SP

stated.
