Delhi, 26 July (H.S.): The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India is conducting a two-day ‘Open Hearing and Camp Sitting’ in Hyderabad on 28th – 29th July 2025 to address 109 cases of alleged human rights violations in Telangana. The NHRC Chairperson, Justice V. Ramasubramanian, along with other members, will hear cases at the MCR HRD Institute, starting at 10:00 am on 28th July. Present will be senior NHRC officials and state officers. The cases include allegations of police misconduct, denial of social welfare benefits, jail irregularities, human rights violations against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, student rights, women’s health issues, and trafficking, among others.
On the following day, 29th July 2025, the NHRC will engage with senior state government officials at 11:00 am to raise awareness about human rights and the importance of swift justice for victims. The Commission will review proactive measures taken by the Telangana government in response to various NHRC advisories. Later, a meeting with civil society organizations, NGOs, and Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) will be held at 2:00 pm to discuss state-specific human rights issues. A media briefing at 3:30 pm will follow to share the Camp Sitting outcomes and actions taken by NHRC. Since 2007, NHRC has organized camp sittings across multiple states to provide immediate justice to victims, with the most recent event occurring in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
