Delhi, 26 July (H.S.): The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, hosted the second edition of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Workshop from July 21 to 25, in New Delhi. The workshop, under WADA’s auspices and in collaboration with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia, saw participation from representatives of National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and law enforcement from various countries, including India, Malaysia, Cambodia, and others. The event aimed to enhance cooperation and foster knowledge-sharing to strengthen the global anti-doping framework.
Over five days, participants engaged in sessions covering intelligence operations, investigative methodologies, managing confidential sources, and analytical techniques, emphasizing the necessity of intelligence-led collaborations to protect athletes and uphold fair competition values. Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (Sports) of the Indian Ministry, praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of collaboration among international bodies to fortify efforts in promoting clean sports. Shri Anant Kumar, Director General of NADA India, noted the milestone achieved with the involvement of delegates from ten South Asian nations, reinforcing WADA’s I&I Capability and Capacity Building Project.
WADA's Director of I&I, Günter Younger, expressed gratitude toward NADA India and the Indian Ministry for their support in organizing the workshops. He emphasized their role in enhancing expertise and maintaining open communication between NADOs and law enforcement agencies across Asia and Oceania. This workshop was vital to the Capability and Capacity Building Project, which seeks to improve global intelligence and investigations. The final workshop is scheduled for April 2026, continuing India's commitment to this pivotal global initiative.
