Muzaffarnagar,

25 July (HS): A woman's body was discovered hanging from the ceiling of her

home in a village here, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her

in-laws for failing to give birth to a son, police said Friday. Himanshi lived

with her husband and their family in Ghari Sakhvat village, which is part of

the Budhana police station area.

Himanshi's

body was discovered hanging from the ceiling at her in-laws' residence on

Thursday night. Based on her father's

complaint, we have filed a case against her husband Bhagat Singh, his brother

Surat Singh, father Lehri, and mother Shakuntala, according to Station House Officer

(SHO) Anand Dev Mishra.

Himanshi's

father claimed in his lawsuit that his daughter was repeatedly tormented by her

in-laws for failing to give birth to a boy and was eventually murdered. Himanshi married Bhagat Singh on December 6,

2020, and they had two kids, according to the SHO. He stated that the deceased

has been submitted for a post-mortem examination, and Lehri has been detained

for questioning.
