New Delhi, July 25 (H.S.): A Supreme Court bench led by Justice Surya Kant has dismissed K. Purushottam's petition for initiating a delimitation process to increase assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The petition argued that Section 26 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act should be enforced, highlighting that delimitation was only applied in Jammu and Kashmir.
The court clarified that according to Article 170 of the Constitution, delimitation can only occur after 2026, ruling that accepting the petition would trigger similar requests from other states.
