Imphal, 25 July (HS): In a decisive move to address the rising issue of illegal immigration, Manipur Police has intensified its state-wide crackdown through the formation of Special Task Forces (STFs) and the issuance of fresh directives.
The Police Headquarters has instructed all District Superintendents of Police to enforce strict action against undocumented foreign nationals, particularly from Bangladesh, Myanmar (Rohingya) and Pakistan. The latest orders specify detailed procedures for identifying, restricting and deporting such individuals.
To ensure consistency in operations across districts, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been circulated. This framework aims to streamline detection, verification, and enforcement efforts, enabling coordinated action throughout the state.
STFs, constituted within each district police unit, will be dedicated to locating and taking legal action against those residing in Manipur without proper documentation.
Senior officials are overseeing the implementation of these measures through routine monitoring and review meetings, with a focus on compliance and effectiveness.
