New Delhi, July 25(HS): The central government has banned 25 OTT platforms for broadcasting obscene content. On July 23, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ordered the blocking of these platforms following consultations with various ministries, including Home Affairs, Women and Child Development, and Electronics and Information Technology, as well as industry bodies and experts on women's and children's rights.
The restricted platforms encompass ALTT, ULLU, Big Shots App, Desiflix, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalva App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hitprime, Feneo, ShowX, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, HotX VIP, Hulchul App, MoodX, NeonX VIP, Fugi, Mojflix, and Triflicks.
Notifications have been issued to intermediaries to enforce the ban under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and IT Rules, 2021, to disable access to the offending websites and apps.
