Shahjahanpur, 25 July (HS): A rickshaw driver was
detained on Friday after reportedly raping a 15-year-old girl here, according
to authorities. Superintendent of Police
(SP) Rajesh Dwivedi stated that the accused, Asif (22), had been dropping off
the class 9 student at school on a regular basis for the past year. On July 15,
the accused reportedly brought the girl to a forest near Badi village and
offered to marry her, rather than dropping her off at school, according to the
officer. The accused reportedly raped the girl, assaulted her, and threatened
to murder her if she exposed the occurrence at home, he stated.
The
victim originally remained mute out of fear, but she eventually became
reclusive and unhappy. The SP stated
that after her mother's continuous probing, she ultimately described the
events. Following the girl's confession, a complaint was filed against the
accused on Thursday under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya
Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The
survivor has been taken for a medical exam.
