Delhi, 24 July (H.S.): The Supreme Court is considering referring the case about the film Udaipur Files back to the Delhi High Court, with a decision on extending the interim stay slated for July 25. On July 21, the central government informed the Supreme Court of six modifications made to the film, after which the court instructed petitioners to file objections within two days. During the hearing, the Solicitor General confirmed the government's actions regarding these representations, including emphasizing the disclaimer in the film.

The Supreme Court had previously maintained the stay on July 16, allowing the central government to decide on the matter before further proceedings. The court noted the Delhi High Court had not commented on the film but advised petitioners to voice objections to the government.

The Supreme Court recognized the government's right to make interim decisions on the film's exhibition, and noted a committee meeting was scheduled to provide inputs on the matter. Additionally, permission was granted to Mohammad Javed, implicated in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, to present his perspective before this committee.

Earlier, on July 10, the High Court issued an interim stay on the film's release, instructing petitioners to present objections by July 14, with the central government expected to respond within a week. The petition by Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind, filed by lawyer Fujail Ahmed Ayubi, claimed the film's trailer included derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad and his wives, potentially jeopardizing national harmony and portraying Deoband as an extremist center.
