New Delhi, July 24 (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Delhi Police regarding the bail application of accused Manoranjan D. in the Parliament security breach case. Justice Vivek Chaudhary's bench highlighted that disrupting Parliament can facilitate terrorism. During the hearing, Manoranjan D.'s lawyer contended that releasing smoke canisters and shouting slogans inside Parliament does not constitute a terrorist act.

Previously, on July 2, the High Court granted bail to two other accused, Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat. On July 15, 2024, the Delhi Police presented a supplementary chargesheet against several accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 186, 353, 153, 452, 201, 34, 120B, and under sections 13, 16, and 18 of the UAPA. This follows an initial chargesheet filed on June 7, 2024, which was approximately one thousand pages long. The chargesheet names several individuals, including Manohar D, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, Mahesh Kumawat, Sagar Sharma, and Neelam Azad. The incident, which sparked chaos in Parliament, occurred on December 13, 2023, when two accused jumped into the chamber and released yellow smoke.
