Goalpara (Assam), 10 July (HS): Father and son killed in wild elephant attack in Lakhipur area under Goalpara district.

According to the villagers, a herd of elephants that arrived in search of food in Shigri village of Lakhipur after last midnight attacked Laskar Rabha and his son Rupasagar Rabha. The father and son killed on the spot in this attack. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the team of forest department and local police reached the spot and took both the bodies in their custody. The villagers have accused the forest department of ignoring this incident. The police is taking further action.
