Bhubaneswar, 10 July (H.S.): On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan extended heartfelt greetings to citizens across the country and paid rich tributes to teachers and mentors who play a pivotal role in shaping society.
In a message shared on social media, Pradhan highlighted the profound significance of the Guru in Indian knowledge traditions. “In India’s wisdom heritage, a Guru is not merely a provider of education, but a guiding light in life, a transmitter of values, and a key architect in the process of nation-building,” he wrote.
Calling Gurus the “ocean of knowledge,” Pradhan expressed deep reverence for those who have inspired the nation’s culture and civilization through knowledge, discipline, and wisdom.
He also acknowledged the enduring importance of the guru-shishya (guru -student) tradition in nation-building. “I gratefully salute the teachers and mentors who, through the guru-shishya tradition, are contributing to the making of a responsible, value-based, inclusive, and developed India,” he said.
