Kanpur,

10 July (HS): The tendency of hurling stones on running trains has caused

restless nights for officials, especially in and around Kanpur. Two people have

been detained for allegedly throwing stones at the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani

Express. The incident, which destroyed

three coaches, happened near Chandari railway station. Authorities are beefing up security and

looking into the suspects' histories for any linkages to other instances. According to a senior Railway Protection

Force (RPF) officer, two individuals were apprehended on Thursday for allegedly

stoning the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express at Chandari railway station. The incident on Tuesday caused damage to

three of the train's coaches, requiring an immediate inquiry. Following a thorough search, RPF troops

detained Mohd Lateef and Mohd Saeem, who admitted to stone-throwing while

drunk.

Authorities

are currently investigating their criminal backgrounds and any connections to

previous occurrences. In reaction to the incident, security has been increased

at Kanpur Central Railway Station and its surroundings. Officials have reported

an upsurge in stone-throwing incidents along the Kanpur Central to Chandari

line in recent months.
