Lucknow, 15 June (HS): With the
Uttar Pradesh government handing appointment letters to nearly 60,000 freshly
hired police constables on Sunday, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav urged
that long-term measures such as regular recruitment campaigns be used to
address the police personnel deficit. In
post on X Yadav stated that long-term
actions, such as continuous recruiting campaigns, should be adopted to address
the police officer deficit since by the time the recruitment process is
concluded in 3-4 years under BJP leadership, 50,000-60,000 police officers will
have retired, leaving the gap unchanged. He said, Gold price crosses Rs 1
lakh: Symbolises distrust in other investments and economic
uncertainty. In these conditions,
the government should prioritize enforcement, as this will increase crimes such
as robbery, snatching, and stealing, particularly during times of high
unemployment.
He further said that robberies and thefts in jewellery shops
in Uttar Pradesh had escalated in recent months. As a result, frequent meetings
should be organized with gold and silver merchants to assess the security
situation. There should be nighttime
patrolling at bullion markets, along with proper CCTV camera setups. Yadav
stated that the backgrounds of private security guards and housekeepers should
be extensively verified to ensure that those with criminal inclinations do not
become guards, drivers, or assistants and infiltrate the security system. Gold has been taken from bank lockers in
recent years; as a result, Yadav believes that banks should make extra security
procedures. He also urged the people to stay watchful. Furthermore, security precautions should be
enhanced at wedding sites, hotels, train stations, bus stops, etc.
