Lucknow, 15 June (HS): Union Home
Minister Amit Shah stated on Sunday that, while modernization of India's police
forces began countrywide under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, Uttar
Pradesh's efforts in this respect began only in 2017 following the creation of
a BJP administration led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. From 2014 to 2017,
the Centre's reforms were not apparent in Uttar Pradesh, Shah stated after
presenting employment letters to newly hired constables of the Uttar Pradesh
Police at a ceremony here. Shah further stated that India will become a global
leader by 2047, with Uttar Pradesh playing a critical role. Yogi Adityanath,
Deputy Chief Ministers Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, and other top
officials joined the home minister. The event represented the largest direct
recruitment campaign for civil police constables in state police history,
according to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government. The Uttar Pradesh
Police Recruitment and Promotion Board picked 48,196 male and 12,048 female
applicants as part of the 'Civil Police Direct Recruitment' process.
