Amethi, 15 June (HS): Five people travelling in an ambulance

died in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway on Sunday morning, while one

was seriously injured. The accident took place at around 5:30 am at milestone

number 59.70 near Chaura village in Bazar Shukul area. According to the

information, after the death of Ashok Sharma, who lived in Ferozepur, Haryana,

his body was being taken to his native village in Samastipur, Bihar. His son

Rajkumar Sharma alias Satish Sharma (26), resident of Rambhadrapur, Ravi Sharma

(28) of the same village, relative Phulo Sharma (45), resident of Ravi Tola,

Hathaudi and Shambhu Rai (46), resident of Purnahi village, were travelling in

the ambulance. Abid (28) and Sarfaraz (30), who were driving the vehicle, from

Nuh district of Haryana, were also with them. On Sunday morning, the ambulance

hit the pickup going ahead from behind. The collision was so severe that the

ambulance was shattered into pieces. In the accident, Rajkumar, Ravi, Phulo,

Abid and Sarfaraz died on the spot, while Shambhu Rai was seriously injured.

After primary treatment, he was referred to the district hospital and then to

AIIMS Raebareli.

As soon as the information was received, DM Sanjay Kumar

Chauhan, SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik, UPDA team and police officers reached the spot.

After relief and rescue work, the vehicles were removed and traffic was

restored. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

According to eyewitnesses, the cause of the accident is believed to be high

speed and the driver dozing off.

The dead have been identified as Rajkumar Sharma alias Satish

Sharma son of Ashok Sharma, resident of Ram Bhadrapur Police Station Kalyanpur

District Samastipur Bihar, Ravi Sharma, son of Balram, resident Ram, Bhadrapur

police station, Kalyanpur district, Samastipur Bihar, Sarfaraz resident of

Nalhar Haryana, Abid son of Hamid resident of Ferozepur police station and Nuh

district Haryana and Phulo Sharma son of late Ram Prasad Sharma, resident of

Ravi Tola police station Hathauri district Samastipur Bihar. Moreover, Shambhu

Rai son of Yogeshwar Rai resident of Puri Nahi police station Waris Nagar

Samastipur Bihar is critically injured.
