Guwahati, 15 June (HS): Based on a complaint, the Basishtha Police of Guwahati conducted a search operation in Birubari and Ulubari under Paltan Bazar Police Station. A statement issued by the Assam Police Headquarters on Sunday said that during the police operation, two notorious snatchers were arrested, identified as Kundan Kumar (26, Ulubari, permanent resident Muzaffarpur, Bihar) and Enos Ali (24, Birubari, permanent address South Salmara, Assam).
The police recovered a black and purple colour TVS Ntorq 125 scooty (AS-01FV-6723) from the accused, an additional number plate of the same number was recovered from under the seat of the scooty, some of whose numbers were erased (possibly this number plate was used to commit the crime), along with the clothes and helmet worn during the commission of the crime.
Based on the information provided by the arrested accused, another operation was launched under the over bridge at Rehabari brewery footpath which led to the arrest of the person involved in the snatching, identified as Papu Biswas (24, brewery, permanent address Darjeeling, West Bengal). Police recovered a Vivo mobile phone from him. Police have registered an FIR in this regard and started investigation.
