Chennai, 15 June (H.S.): A recent survey conducted by the district administration in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, has identified 1,495 students who have dropped out of school. The survey was led by Collector VP Jeyaseelan, who emphasized the importance of improving literacy skills and knowledge among students. The initiative aims to readmit these dropouts into schools, ensuring they continue their education.

The district administration has taken various measures to achieve 100% school enrollment and encourage students to pursue higher education. As part of the effort, officials from education, revenue, and police departments interacted with 453 dropouts and their parents to understand their grievances and persuade them to rejoin classes.

Counseling sessions have already been conducted for some dropouts in different panchayat unions, including Arupukottai, Kariapatti, Sivakasi, Sattur, Srivilliputhur, Vembakottai, Rajapalayam, and Virudhunagar.
