Hailakandi (Assam), 15 June (HS): A sensational case of a son killing his own mother by drowning her in water has come to light in Hailakandi district. The incident is said to have taken place on PK Road in Lala town of the district. Police have arrested Mimodwip Nath, the youth who killed 55-year-old woman Manju Rani Nath.

According to the police, Mimodwip had gone to the pond adjacent to the house with his mother at around 8 am on Sunday. He went into the pond and drowned his mother in water and stood on her body. When his younger brother realized what had happened, he called his neighbors. The neighbors came and saw that Mimodwip was standing in water up to his chest in the pond. When people asked Mimodwip about his mother, he did not answer. Immediately after this, the neighbors informed the police.

As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and took Mimodwip out of the water. After that, the dead body of his mother Manju Rani Nath came up from under his feet. Police have arrested Mimodwip on the charge of killing his mother. However, the motive behind the murder is not clear yet. This incident has created a sensation in the entire Hailakandi district including Lala city. Police is interrogating the accused so that the reasons behind the murder can be revealed. ------------------
