Ghaziabad, 15 June (HS): On June 10, two criminals who had looted
lakhs of rupees from a stamp vendor were arrested by the Tilamod police after a
face-to-face encounter. Both the criminals were injured by police bullets. They
have been admitted to the hospital. A pistol, a revolver, a Scorpio car and Rs
7.5 lakh cash looted from stamp vendor have been recovered from their
possession.
ACP Atul Kumar Singh told reporters on Sunday that at night, the
police of Tilamod police station received information that the miscreants who
carried out the robbery incident near Peepal Tiraha on Farrukhnagar Road under
Tilamod police station area were going to Meerut in a Scorpio car. On the basis
of which suspicious vehicles were being checked. During this time, when an
attempt was made to stop a black Scorpio car coming fast from Tilamod for
checking, the Scorpio driver tried to escape by turning the Scorpio sharply
towards the left. In the course of which the police party signaled to stop and
when the police party chased the Scorpio, the Scorpio driver turned the car
towards the left in the forest, but due to the road ahead being closed, the
driver stopped the Scorpio and two persons quickly got out of the vehicle and
both of them took out their illegal weapons and fired at the police party. The
police also fired. In which both the miscreants got injured and fell on the
ground. Both the criminals were taken into custody in injured condition and
when asked their name and address, one of them gave his name as Ankit, resident
of Ghitoura, Police Station Khekada, District Bagpat and the other gave his
name as Kartik, resident of Ghitoura, Police Station Khekada, District Bagpat.
On interrogating of the two arrested miscreants, it came to
light that the injured duo, along with their two other companions, had
committed a robbery on a stamp vendor in the police station area Tilamod on the
road in front of Oxy Home Society on June 10. Both of them were absconding.
