Ghaziabad, 15 June (HS): On June 10, two criminals who had looted

lakhs of rupees from a stamp vendor were arrested by the Tilamod police after a

face-to-face encounter. Both the criminals were injured by police bullets. They

have been admitted to the hospital. A pistol, a revolver, a Scorpio car and Rs

7.5 lakh cash looted from stamp vendor have been recovered from their

ACP Atul Kumar Singh told reporters on Sunday that at night, the

police of Tilamod police station received information that the miscreants who

carried out the robbery incident near Peepal Tiraha on Farrukhnagar Road under

Tilamod police station area were going to Meerut in a Scorpio car. On the basis

of which suspicious vehicles were being checked. During this time, when an

attempt was made to stop a black Scorpio car coming fast from Tilamod for

checking, the Scorpio driver tried to escape by turning the Scorpio sharply

towards the left. In the course of which the police party signaled to stop and

when the police party chased the Scorpio, the Scorpio driver turned the car

towards the left in the forest, but due to the road ahead being closed, the

driver stopped the Scorpio and two persons quickly got out of the vehicle and

both of them took out their illegal weapons and fired at the police party. The

police also fired. In which both the miscreants got injured and fell on the

ground. Both the criminals were taken into custody in injured condition and

when asked their name and address, one of them gave his name as Ankit, resident

of Ghitoura, Police Station Khekada, District Bagpat and the other gave his

name as Kartik, resident of Ghitoura, Police Station Khekada, District Bagpat.

On interrogating of the two arrested miscreants, it came to

light that the injured duo, along with their two other companions, had

committed a robbery on a stamp vendor in the police station area Tilamod on the

road in front of Oxy Home Society on June 10. Both of them were absconding.
