Srinagar, 15 June (H.S.): In a major boost to rural infrastructure and connectivity, MLA Ramnagar, Dr Sunil Bhardwaj, today inaugurated a newly constructed motorable bridge at Veriyan, Kulwanta, connecting the remote hamlets of Chigla Balota with Kulthian Marta.
The bridge, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), has been completed at a cost of Rs 2 crores.
The bridge is a crucial development for the region, addressing a long-standing public demand and providing all-weather access to the otherwise isolated villages.
The inauguration event was attended by key officials from the PMGSY Department, including AEE Neeraj Verma and the Junior Engineer, who were instrumental in ensuring timely execution of the project.
Prominent local figures, including Vikas Gupta (Mandal Pardhan), Dikshant Sharma (State vice president, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha), along with the local Sarpanch, Panches, and a large number of residents, participated in the ceremony and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the developmental initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sunil Bhardwaj emphasized the Government’s commitment to equitable rural development and said that connectivity is the cornerstone of progress in remote areas. He assured the locals of continued focus on improving road infrastructure and public welfare under centrally sponsored schemes like PMGSY.
The new bridge is expected to ease transportation, enhance access to education and healthcare, and boost local economic activities, thereby transforming the socio-economic landscape of the region.
