Dibrugarh (Assam), 15 June (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the Central Community Kitchen Project and 'Hare Krishna Cultural Center' to be built at Khamti Ghat in Dibrugarh. The Chief Minister also performed Bhoomi Pujan of the construction site of the project. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also attended the program along with the Chief Minister.
Assam government ministers Bimal Bora, Yogen Mahan, Prashant Phukan, Piyush Hazarika, MLA Chakradhar Gogoi, Tarang Gogoi, Vinod Hazarika etc. were present in the public meeting organized in view of the program. This Central Community Kitchen Project, which will be controlled by Akshaya Patra Foundation, will be able to provide excellent and nutritious mid-day meals to thousands of primary and secondary school students of Dibrugarh district.
After such community kitchens have already been established in many districts like Guwahati, Kamrup, Jorhat etc., the foundation stone of this community kitchen was laid today at Dibrugarh Dihing Khamti Ghat. The government will construct it on 11 bighas of land by spending ₹25 crore and in due course it will be handed over to Krishna Foundation by ISKCON. Through this kitchen, mid-day meals will be arranged for the students of every primary and secondary school of some communities of the district in the near future.
It is worth mentioning that despite the implementation of this scheme, the job of any cook working in the previous schools will not end. From now on, they will be known as food distributors instead of cooks. ----------------
