Guwahati, 15 June (HS): Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya on Saturday formally launched Mission 'Bvismuthi 2.0' at a function organized at the Integrated Textile Park in Kharujhar of Baksa district and distributed land allotment certificates to the beneficiaries of the BTR region.

In his address, the Governor said that the credit for the atmosphere of peace and development in BTR today goes to the historic Bodo Peace Accord signed in 2020 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that this agreement became the foundation of stability, harmony and inclusive development in the BTR region.

The Governor said, Land in India is not just an asset, but a symbol of identity, dignity and livelihood. For decades, due to complex land laws, marginalized people were not able to get their rights. Now the initiatives taken by the BTR government to make land administration simple, digital and transparent are commendable.

Underlining the achievements of Mission Bvismuthi 1.0, the Governor said that under this, 1.88 lakh families applied on the digital portal, out of which more than 1.61 lakh cases have been settled. Mission 2.0 has made this process more smooth and comprehensive.

He informed that taking advantage of the amended Sixth Schedule and the Land Regulation Act of 1886, land rights have been given to 26,775 families so far, while land related services have been provided to more than 3.23 lakh beneficiaries. So far 32,798 individuals and 1,161 community land rights have been issued under the Forest Rights Act, 2006.

The Governor also informed that surveys have been completed in 36 long unsurveyed villages, providing land security to thousands of people after years. Speaking on the positive impact of the mission on the agriculture sector, he said that more than 8,000 small tea growers, who are cultivating tea in 2,239 hectares, will get direct benefit from it.

The Governor also appreciated initiatives like digital record room, GIS lab, digital tracking system and integration of online platforms, which have reduced land disputes and increased institutional transparency.

He said, “With efforts like Mission Bvismuthi 2.0, the BTR region is emerging as a model of land administration for Sixth Schedule areas. This development is an important step towards the dream of Developed India 2047.”

On this occasion, Handloom and Textiles Minister Urkhao Gaura Brahma, BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, BTC Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro, Deputy Chief Executive Member Govind Chandra Basumatary, Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary, Dharma Narayan Das, BTC Principal Secretary Akash Deep, Baksa Deputy Commissioner Gautam Das and many other dignitaries were present.

Earlier, the Governor also planted a sapling under the Green Bodoland Mission.
