Hooghly, 15 June (H.S.): Workers of Serampore organizational district of Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday morning blocked GT Road at Belting Bazar crossing of Serampore town against Maheshtala violence. The BJP workers raised slogans against the police during the protest.
As per information, BJP workers also demanded the arrest of Trinamool leader Anubrata Mandal, accused of making objectionable remarks against the police. BJP's protest caused huge traffic jam the road. On information, the police from Serampore police station reached the spot and removed the protesters from the road.
Notably, recently violence broke out between two communities over setting up a fruit shop near a temple in Rabindranagar of Maheshtala in South 24 Parganas district. During this, Tulsi Manch was demolished. In this uproar, stones were also pelted on the police and media. Many policemen were injured.
