Muzaffarnagar, 15 June (HS): Two
married ladies were discovered hanging in their respective rooms in two
distinct locations in Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Sunday.
While the specific cause of the fatalities has yet to be determined,
investigators assume they are tied to dowry demand. In the first case,
27-year-old Guddia was discovered hanging from the ceiling of her room in
Abdulpur village on Saturday night.
According to Circle Officer (Sadar) Devwrat Bajpai, police have filed a
complaint against five people, including Gudia's husband Sohanvir,
father-in-law Balram, and mother-in-law Maya, who have all fled. Jitender, the victim's brother, said in his
police complaint that his sister was strangled to death and then hanged to seem
to be a suicide. Guddia, who married Sohanvir four years ago, left behind two
children. Similarly, Urshi (36) was discovered hanging in her room in Talda
village. Police have filed charges against four members of her in-laws' family,
including her husband Sudhir, who has been jailed. According to the victim's
family's allegation, Urshi, who married six years ago, was assassinated due to
dowry demands.
