Chennai, 13 June (H.S.): The AIADMK is adopting a wait-and-watch approach amid the BJP's efforts to outmaneuver it in Tamil Nadu politics. According to sources, the party is pinning its hopes on a Vijay miracle, referring to the potential impact of actor Vijay's political influence. Meanwhile, the political landscape in Tamil Nadu is witnessing significant developments, including major busts of drug smuggling operations.
In a recent operation, the Chennai Airport Customs department seized 10 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 10 crore. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt. This follows a series of crackdowns on drug trafficking networks in the state, with law enforcement agencies intensifying their efforts to curb the circulation of narcotics.
The Tamil Nadu government, led by the DGP Shankar Jiwal, has been working to strengthen inter-agency coordination and enhance surveillance to tackle drug trafficking. Major busts and arrests have been made in recent months, including the seizure of 150 kg of ganja in East Tambaram and 16 kg of methamphetamine in a separate operation.
The AIADMK's strategy to wait and observe the unfolding political scenario may be influenced by these developments, as the party assesses the impact of the BJP's moves and the potential benefits of aligning with actor Vijay's political influence. However, the party's focus on addressing pressing issues like drug trafficking and crime may take center stage in the coming days.
