- About 10,000 farmers will be benefited
Tamulpur (Assam), 13 June (HS): An important meeting was held on Friday regarding the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme in the auditorium of the District Deputy Commissioner's Office. In this meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Chakraborty, it was decided that Crop Insurance Week will be celebrated in the district from June 23 to 29. This program will be organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, in which the participation of Common Service Center (CSC) has also been ensured.
During this campaign, awareness meetings will be organized in 20 LVCD areas of the district. The main objective of these meetings is to make farmers aware of the process of getting compensation under the insurance scheme in case of crop damage due to natural disaster or other reasons. Along with this, information about other schemes of the Agriculture Department will also be given so that farmers can benefit in every way.
Under the insurance scheme, compensation will be provided to the farmers through SBI General Insurance. It is estimated that about 10,000 farmers will benefit from this campaign.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Dipankar Nath, Assistant Commissioner Anupam Deka, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Nirod Chandra Nath, State Nodal Officer of Common Service Center Jhanjhasri Sarkar along with other Agriculture Development Officers, Field Assistants, Agriculture Inspectors and related officers were present in today's meeting.
