North 24 Parganas, 13 June (H.S.): The police have arrested 22 Rohingya infiltrators from the border area of North 24 Parganas district on Friday.
As per information, they have been arrested from Baduria police station area. Initial investigation by the police shows that the arrested people were trying to return to Bangladesh.
According to the information, on Friday, people of Lavanga village of Shayastnagar (1) Gram Panchayat of Baduria police station area of Basirhat police district of North 24 Parganas noticed many strangers in a house under construction. The police was immediately informed. When the police arrived, it was found that they were all Rohingyas. There were also many children among them. The police arrested them and took them to Baduria police station.
During interrogation, the police came to know that the arrested people used to work as paper collectors in Hyderabad. However, the police could not tell why they had come to Baduria. After initial investigation, the police suspect that the arrested people were trying to return to Bangladesh. That is why they had gathered in the border area.
The BJP has long been alleging that Bangladeshis and Rohingyas are using West Bengal borders as an infiltration corridor due to the inaction of the state government. They claim that with the help of the ruling Trinamool party, these infiltrators are also getting Indian identity cards. After this, they are spreading across the
country.
