Jorhat (Assam), 1 June (HS): A significant breakthrough was achieved in cracking down on anti-national activities. The Indian Armed Forces on Sunday arrested a suspected Pakistani spy from the 41st Sub Area Cantonment of the Indian Army at Lichubari in Jorhat. The accused has been identified as Samsul Islam, a welding worker who was working in the 41st Sub Area Cantonment of the Army for many years.

Islam, a resident of Bilasipara in Dhubri district, is accused of spying on the Indian Army and leaking confidential information to handlers in Pakistan. Investigative agencies have also linked Islam to many criminal activities in Dhubri and Guwahati.

Although the Indian Army has not issued any official statement about the incident, local reports have revealed that Islam was in contact with the enemy country for some time.---------------------------
