Shamli,

01 June (HS): Near Balwa village, miscreants placed a thick iron pipe. The

driver showed his presence of mind and stopped the train a few feet before.

When the emergency brakes were applied with a jerk, thousands of passengers

sitting in the train got frightened. The police has started investigating the

matter. Near Balwa village on the Delhi-Saharanpur railway route, miscreants

placed a thick iron pipe of about 12 feet long on the railway track with the intention

of overturning the train. The driver showed his presence of mind and stopped

the train beforehand. The train stood in the forest for about an hour. During

this time, the passengers had to face trouble. Actually, train 64021 was going

from Delhi to Saharanpur at around 10:30 pm on Saturday night. As soon as the

train reached near the underpass of Balwa village, the driver stopped the train

by applying emergency brakes. When he got down and looked, about 12 feet long

iron pipe was placed on the railway track.

It

is suspected that miscreants had placed the pipe on the railway track as part

of a conspiracy to overturn the train. However, the officials are still talking

about investigating the conspiracy. On receiving the information about the

incident, SP Ramsevak Gautam, ASP Santosh Kumar Singh, GRP and RPF officials

reached the spot. They took stock of the incident spot. The police also

investigated in search of the miscreants, but they could not be traced at the

moment. GRP station in-charge Chand Veer Singh says that miscreants had placed

the pipe on the railway track. The officer is on the spot. The matter is being

investigated. The driver of the train showed prudence. If the driver had not

noticed the pipe, thousands of passengers travelling in the train could have

become victims of the accident.

Pipe

uprooted from a nearby tube well: RPF officials said that investigation has

revealed that miscreants had uprooted the pipe from a tube well near Balwa

village, which was found on the railway track. Apart from the police, the SP

has also deployed SOG for investigation.

Forensic

and dog squad teams also arrived: On the instructions of the SP, the dog squad

and forensic team also reached the spot and investigated the matter.

SP

Ramsevak Gautam says that talks are also being held with railway officials. It

is being investigated whether the thieves left the pipe on the track after

stealing it from the tube well when the train arrived or whether there was a

conspiracy to overturn the train. Something can be said only after the

investigation.
