Guwahati, 1 June (HS): The flood situation in Assam has become serious due to continuous rains. According to the report received till Sunday morning, 13 districts of the state have been hit by floods. These districts include Dhemaji, South Salmara, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Darang, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Kamrup, Biswanath, Tinsukia and Karbi Anglong West.

The number of flood-affected villages has reached 175, affecting a total of 58,091 people. Apart from this, 791.32 hectares of crop area has also suffered heavy damage.

The state administration has opened 16 relief camps, in which 1224 people have taken shelter, while 5619 people are receiving assistance from relief distribution centers.

According to government data, three people have been confirmed dead in Assam due to floods.

The floods have also had a deep impact on livestock. A total of 75,918 animals have been affected, including 21,541 large animals, 9,616 small animals and 44,761 poultry.

Houses have been damaged. The total number of damaged houses is reported to be 17, which includes 15 completely damaged kutcha houses and two completely damaged pucca houses. The administration is monitoring the situation and relief work is continuing.
