Kolkata, 1 June (H.S.): Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Saturday, at 10 PM for a series of programmes in West Bengal. Despite rain, enthusiastic BJP workers and supporters, including women playing dhaks and others with party flags and garlands, welcomed him at Kolkata Airport. Key BJP leaders like Sukanta Majumdar, Suvendu Adhikari, Locket Chatterjee, and Agnimitra Pal were present. Shah briefly interacted with supporters before heading to a hotel on the bypass for the night.
On Sunday, Shah’s schedule includes an organizational meeting at Netaji Indoor Stadium with MPs, MLAs, mandal presidents, and state BJP leadership. With Bengal’s assembly elections 10 months away, he is expected to discuss organizational strategies.
