New Delhi, 26 February (HS): Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted an inspection to review preparation and arrangements made for the passengers heading to the Kumbh Mela at New Delhi Railway Station ahead of Maha Shivratri on Tuesday night. He took stock of the facilities available in the station premises and gave necessary instructions to the officials to provide a smooth travel experience to the passengers. During this, he also talked to the passengers and got their feedback regarding the arrangements.
The Railway Minister said that 36 new ticket counters have been set up outside the station, so that passengers do not face any inconvenience in buying tickets. Apart from this, automatic ticket vending machines have also been installed, so that long queues can be avoided and passengers can get tickets as soon as possible.
Today ,due to Mahashivratri, a large number of devotees are heading to Prayagraj for Kumbh bath. In such a situation, there is a huge crowd at the station, in view of which adequate security arrangements have been made.
The Railway Minister said that following the instructions, the railway officials have already deployed additional security personnel and help desks to control the crowd and ensure the safety of the passengers. In view of the large number of devotees traveling for the Kumbh Mela, the railway administration is constantly engaged in ensuring the operation of special trains.
The Railway Minister said, Our goal is that the passengers of Kumbh Mela get a safe and comfortable travel experience. We are taking all necessary steps for crowd management and railway staff has been specially deployed.
After inspecting the arrangements, Vaishnaw stated that passengers were satisfied with the facilities in Place.
“At Delhi Railway Station, ticket sales were monitored through a new innovative method. Hourly monitoring was conducted, and trains to Prayagraj were arranged accordingly. We started five trains on demand, which helped in managing the crowd coming for the Maha Kumbh,” CPRO Upadhyay said.
The last major bathing event of the ongoing Maha Kumbh will take place today on Maha Shivratri further increasing the anticipated passenger volume at major railway stations across the region.
The inspection follows a tragic stampede incident at New Delhi Railway Station on February 15,
the Railway Ministry took immediate action and decided to make the passenger management system more effective.
